Rules[]
- To Participate in the County Spelling Bee, a speller would've had to have won their regional spelling bee (or in Leaf's case, place).
- A speller may ask questions about the word's pronunciation or definition, it's use in a sentence and it's language of origin.
- If you start to spell a word, you may start over, but the sequences of letters spoken may not be changed.
- If you misspell a word, we will ring the bell, and the comfort counselor, Mitch Mahoney, will escort you offstage.
An unofficial rule is that the first speller to lose sells candy at the bake sale during the snack break.
Prize[]
The Winner of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee gets a $200 savings bond towards their education (courtesy of the Putnam Optometrists) and gets to participate in the National Spelling Bee. In the 25th Annual, the runner up gets a prize of $25.
